Saladin at the Gate - Campaign
We kicked off our Crusades campaign on the weekend.
This is the opening battle two Christian armies got jumped by two of Saladin's armies in the East
There are 3 armies per side so 6 players. I'll post a picture of the map when I have it as it's hard to explain what's happened so far in any real detail.
Essentially the Christians won this fight forcing Saladin to withdraw splitting his forces, one army heading north and the other heading south.
The third Arab army has sacked Saphet in the north while the King of Jerusalem and the holy relic hold the central province of Cafarsset ....waiting on the outcome of this first engagement.
We now have to see who gets to move first in the next turn if the Christians win the initiative then they can keep the pressure on and pursue .... Saladin is rated as a Genius so he will get a +4 on his initiative roll while the King of Jerusalem is rated Poor with only a +1 so they may slip away.
More to come....
Muttawiyah (Islam volunteers ) start a bush fire smoking a few of the Christians off the hill pushing them back and disordering effected units.....trouble makers.
Here's the map thanks to Chris ..... Cheers mate.

Blücher
Just found a parcel on my door step ... birthday present from my better half. Could be dangerous... I've been looking forward to them coming out for some time. Are these going to be it ?... always wanted a corps level set of Napoleonic rules that worked and was still fun to play for me it's the large scale stuff that captures the period best. Well we'll see I suppose....liking what I've read about them so far.

Few More Athenians
Playing a Peloponnesian Wars campaign at the club has spurred me onto finishing off this army which has been half completed for some time. One more Hoplite unit, one unit of light foot javelins and skirmish stand of slingers and it can be tabled......yeeeeha !

These chaps should have been finished off ages ago....just one of those incomplete jobs. A few long awaited FLs for my Romans at last, badly needed.

Spanish First Outing
Iberians had their first run last night up agains't Ralph's Early Crusaders, not exactly an historical match but still an interesting one. Will take some time getting the hang of these guys hmmm….they managed the win but I can see this will be a delicate army to use. Ralph had quiet a few new additions to his army as well mostly lots of pilgrims …. game was 350pts.
